2nd Half Batters to Watch ( PART 1 )

BATTERS

1. Hank Blalock 1B, 3B TEX- Hammerin Hank is back in action. Blalock has taken over at 1st base with Chris Davis being sent down to AAA. Though not known for a high batting average he will be a great addition for power. Blalock already has 19 home runs and is on pace for 30 to 35, and with Josh Hamilton back in the line up Blalock should have more RBI opportunities.

2. Felipe Lopez 2B, 3B, SS, OF MIL- Now that Lopez has been traded to the brew crew he will be a run scoring machine. With 104 hits and a .301 average he should be on base a ton for the Prince and Ryan Braun to hit him in. Being a first round pick in 1998 it looks like he is filling out his potential. Lopez will be a great addition for Hits, Average, and Runs.

3. Juan Rivera OF LAA- Rivera has posted solid first half numbers so far. With a .309 average, 15 HRs and 53 RBIs you should see him finish up with around .301 29 95. That is a solid year around the board. If you have a struggling outfielder on your team like a Matt Holliday, or Alfonso Soriano you may want to add Rivera until your see if your big names will get or not. Rivera is that player who will improve your team in many categories I suggest if you have the space add him now, but add with caution Rivera has been battling some leg problems which has caused him to miss some games this year.

4. Martin Prado 2B, 3B, OF ATL- As of late Prado has struck fire in Atlanta. With a .324 average Prado has been abusing NL pitching lately. After finishing off strong in the first half he looks as if he could keep up this hot hitting. Although not many HRs 5, or RBIs 20 you should see the numbers go up as his hot hitting continues. He should finish with .315 14 65 and would not be a bad addition to a struggling team.

2nd Half Pitchers to Watch ( PART 1 )

PITCHERS- ( Clay Buchholz is #1 and Hanson is #2)

1. Clay Buchholz SP BOS - You may remember Clay from 2007 when he won his 1st three starts as a rookie, while throwing a no hitter in his 2nd career start against Bal. Buchholz this year is 1-0 in Boston and in AAA Pawtucket is 7-2 with a 2.36 ERA. There has been trade rumorsmoving around baseball and Buchholz could end up as a every day starter in some rotation by the end of this year. Definitely keep your eye on Clay, he could be a key to success in any fantasy league.

2. Tommy Hanson SP ATL- Regarded as the number one pitching prospect in the majors Hanson. At AAA GWI Hanson posted a 3-3 record with a 1.49 ERA a .86 WHIP with a 90:17 K to BB ratio. After 7 starts with the Braves this year Hanson has looked strong posted a 4-0 record with a 2.85 ERA. This guy will be a top major league pitcher for years to come. I suggest if Hanson is not all ready owned in your league pick him up now !!!

3. Jason Schmidt SP LAD- You remember this guy right? The former 18 and 17 game winner is back in action. After 5 games started in AAA he has been a little shaky with a 4.18 ERA, but there is some definite upside. In his last start the 37 year old right hander went 7 2/3 inn giving up 2 hits and a walk while fanning seven. Joe Torre has given Schmidt the start on Monday vs CIN. I would wait on adding Schmidt until we see if he is really back to his all-star form, but he could be that guy to get you over the top.

4. Tim Hudson SP ATL- Hudson is hoping to be back into the swing of this by August, and with that being two weeks away you should put him on your watch list. You know this guys career stats they are amazing. He will begin his rehab starts on Sunday in Class-A. If you are looking for a guy to help you down the stretch in deeper leagues Hudson is the guy for that.
